Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Introduction
Audion ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding data collection, storage, and processing when you use our desktop application or visit our website (audionplayer.com).
Desktop Application (Offline-First)
Audion is designed as a local-first application. Key privacy protections include:
- No Library Telemetry: We do not scan, collect, or transmit your local music files, library details, or directories.
- No Usage Tracking: The application does not track your playing habits, skips, search history, or preferences.
- Offline Operation: The player does not require an internet connection to function.
Optional Account Sync (Pro)
If you choose to donate via Ko-fi and link your email to access optional cross-device library and settings synchronization:
- Email Address: We collect the email associated with your donation to verify your Pro status and authorize sync functionality.
- Sync Metadata: Your settings, layout preferences, and metadata configurations are encrypted and stored on our servers solely to provide the synchronization service.
- Data Request/Deletion: You can request data deletion or sync account removal at any time by contacting us through Discord or GitHub. Unused sync accounts are auto-deleted after 30 days of inactivity following expiration.
Website Analytics and Advertising
When you browse audionplayer.com:
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) with anonymized IP addresses to analyze general traffic patterns. No ad personalization or tracking signals are enabled.
- Adsterra Advertising Network: Our site serves advertisements from Adsterra. Adsterra may set cookies and process minimal browser data (such as user-agent and IP addresses) to display relevant ads. Opt out of tracking via Adsterra's cookie consent and policy settings directly.
Third-Party Plugins
Audion features an extensible plugin system. Third-party plugins may query external networks if granted permission (e.g., network:fetch). Permissions are displayed before installation. We are not responsible for the privacy and data practices of third-party plugins.
Open Source Transparency
Because Audion is open source under the GPLv3 license, you are free to inspect our code repository on GitHub at any time to verify our privacy compliance.
