How to Install Plugins
Get community-built plugins running in Audion in under a minute.
Step-by-Step Installation
Follow these steps to install any plugin from the Audion marketplace.
Open Audion
Launch Audion on your desktop. Make sure you're running v1.2.0 or later — older versions don't have the Plugin Manager.
Go to Plugin Manager
Click the Settings icon (⚙️) in the sidebar, then select "Plugins" from the left menu. The Plugin Manager will open.
Browse or search plugins
Use the search bar to find a plugin by name, or browse by category. Each card shows the description, author, and install count.
Click Install
Click the "Install" button on any plugin card. Audion downloads and installs the plugin automatically. No restart needed.
Enable the plugin
After installing, toggle the plugin ON using the switch on its card. Some plugins may have a settings panel — click the settings gear next to the toggle.
Open Plugin Menu / Drawer
To use active plugins (like lyrics or visualizers), click the Puzzle/Plugin icon in the bottom player bar (or bottom navigation on mobile) to slide open the plugin interface.
Install from URL (advanced)
Have a plugin not in the marketplace? Click "Install from URL", paste the raw plugin.json URL from GitHub, and hit Install.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are plugins stored?
Plugins are stored in your Audion data directory: %APPDATA%\Audion\plugins on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Audion/plugins on macOS, ~/.config/Audion/plugins on Linux.
Can I install plugins manually?
Yes. Copy the plugin folder (containing plugin.json) into the plugins directory above, then restart Audion or click Refresh in the Plugin Manager.
How do I update a plugin?
Open the Plugin Manager. If an update is available, an "Update" badge appears on the card. Click it to update.
How do I uninstall a plugin?
In the Plugin Manager, click the trash icon on the plugin card. Audion removes the plugin files and disables it immediately.
A plugin isn't working — what do I do?
First, disable and re-enable the plugin. If that doesn't help, check the plugin's GitHub repo for issues, or open a bug report on the Audion GitHub.
